Week 1:
WHY DO YOU NEED TO LEARN PHOTOGRAPHY
1. Express Your Creativity
Photoshop opens up a door of endless opportunities. The, even more, you discover functions, the far better you recognize your own capacity. You will slowly figure out new methods to make your layouts much better.
2. Create Graphic Design
You can develop the format of a business card, poster, greeting card, and also far more.
3. Restoration of Old Images
With the help of the flexible software application, you can bring back those old photos as well as experience.
4. Integrate Graphics with Text Artistically
Photoshop offers you the adaptability to blend as well as match pictures with a message to produce the preferred impact.
5. Make Use Brushes
There are many brushes that can be utilized to create a certain impact.
6. Change Photo Color
You can add effects to the picture to provide a distinct appearance.
7. Rectify mistakes in photographs
With the help of Photoshop tools, you can conceal the weak points as well as boost the aesthetic allure of the photo.
Week 2:
A. INTRODUCTION TO BASIC COMPOSITION
1. Focal Point
A key element to any good composition is a strong focal point.
2. Scale & Hierarchy
Scale is often used to help communicate hierarchy by drawing attention toward and away from certain elements, thus signifying their importance to the communication.
3. Balance the Elements
A good technique for mastering asymmetrical balance is to think of each element as having 'weight' to it.
4. White Space
White space is mostly known as "empty space" to balance up the main focus of a composition.
B. RULE OF THIRDS
The rule of thirds is the process of dividing an image into thirds, using two horizontal and two vertical lines. When position the most important elements of your image at these intersection points, you produce a much more natural image.
The rule of thirds is a way to:
- use composition techniques that are in line with what's naturally pleasing to the eye
- Creatively use negative space
- Create a conversation between the subject and background
C. GOLDEN RATIO
Golden Ratio is a mathematical ratio. It is commonly found in nature, and when used in a design, it fosters organic and natural-looking compositions that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
In design, Golden Ratio boils down to aesthetics creating and appreciating a sense of beauty through harmony and proportion. When applied to design, The Golden Ratio provides a sense of artistry.

Week 3:
LASSO TOOL, PEN TOOL & LAYERING
1. Selection, Layering
2. Tool Box
Photoshop provides several toolsets in the Toolbox, and you can expand the toolsets to reveal additional tools.
3. Marquee Selection Tools
A. LASSO TOOL
How to Use the Lasso Tool
- The Lasso tool allows you to draw and pinpoint specific areas of a document.
- If you like drawing with pencil and paper or cutting and pasting objects from a photo, then you will love the Lasso Tool.
- When you click on the Lasso Tool from the Toolbar, you will see three different tool options, Lasso, Polygonal Lasso, Magnetic Lasso
- The Lasso Tool is great to use with a graphic tablet because it is similar to a pencil,
- Unlike a mouse or trackpad, a graphic tablet can give a better flow when drawing and making selections
B. PEN TOOL
How to Use Pen Tool
- When it comes to actually creating a path from scratch, the pen tool is the most common option.
- The pen tool is the way that you add these points and the way you drag the tool as you create the way you drag the tool as you create the points determine how they will look
C. LAYERING
How to use Layer in Photoshop
- Layers are different images stacked on top of each other
- You can use each layer without affecting another one to make adjustment
- Together they form one final image
- The advantage of using layers is that you can save a photoshop file with with all the layers included. That means you can use layers for non-destructive editing.

Week 1:

4. List down your 3 favorite graphic design works from Pinterest.
In the fist composition I tried to add some paper layering in the back with more flower elements for aesthetic purpose. I also add real leaf to make the design more alive.
In the second composition, I tried to adjust the back layering and managed to find a better result. I also added more butterflies elements to support the whole theme. I put the text below the portrait and added more leaf.
1. Bezier Game
- Practice and play on this game (https://bezier.method.ac)

- The Bezier Game is a game that could help us master pen tool skills which will, later on, be useful for us as we proceed deeper into photoshop and illustration. My first impression of this game was that it was more complicated than I thought. I did encounter few difficulties along the way such as not knowing how to direct the next line after the previous one, not knowing how to use alt properly, etc. However, I managed to do my best and received "16 nodes spare" as my result.
2. Create Your E-Portfolio Blog
- Pinterest link: https://id.pinterest.com/Luisaaudrey22/
4. List down your 3 favorite graphic design works from Pinterest.
Explain why you like the designs?
- First design
First of all, I would like to mention how I like the color combination between bubble gum pink and the moss green inside the circle. I also like how they make it look more lovely and girlish by adding few sweets to the table. Another interesting thing that I love is the idea of as if the person was going to a whole new area through a small hole showing a tidbit of the other side's environment and also how only half of the legs are shown.
- Third design
As for this art, the whole idea looks pretty simple comparing to the other two. But I really appreciate how they are able to find the perfect color compilation for the background and the products that could complement each other really well. I also love the light vaporwave aesthetic they added to make it look more modern.
Week 2:
We were instructed to make a Physical collage with 3 compositions from magazines or the internet.

3rd composition |
At first, I decided to put many elements into the collage thinking that it would look good, however, after the 3rd attempt, I tried to reduce the picture because I thought maybe simpler is better.
But after a few looks, I still like the 2nd composition better.
After the 3rd meeting, I realized that my physical collages look very similar to one another. I hope I can improve my future work into more various. However, Mr. Martin chose the 2nd composition.
Final Result
Week 3:
We were instructed to make digital collages from only several pictures prepared by the lecturer.

2nd composition |
As for the third composition, I feel like this is the most well-planned composition compared to the other 2. I tried to replicate space and add a few elements for aesthetic purposes. Same as the first composition, I add the colorful pieces in the black background to replicate stars and space objects.
After getting feedback from Mr. Martin, he suggested me to use the 3rd composition with a bit of revision. He told me to move the text from the furthest planet to the second nearest which is the planet with the ring. As for the ring, it then got moved to the furthest planet instead.
Final Result
Week 4:
In week 4, Mr. Martin instructed us to make the edited version using effects and layering that has been taught of the best composition from week 3.
These are the process on how I made the layering and the effect. I tried to use a lot of different saturation per object to match the whole color theme.
In this version, I tried to make the color more eye-catching with a more fun vibe. I add more purple and orange to the design so it matches the whole color scheme. I also like how the purple plants catch the eye first as the color is pretty unique, which our view will then spread to the rest of the elements, making us realize the whole fun and fantasy vibes brought by the colors and composition.
Feedback
Week 1:
General Feedback: We were instructed to make an E-portfolio and to make sure that we update it daily
Specific Feedback: No specific feedback given yet
Week 2:
General Feedback: We were instructed to make a physical collage from a magazine or internet
Specific Feedback: No specific feedback given yet
Week 3:
General Feedback: Make sure that we take the picture of our physical work with better lightning. Make sure we also turn in our assignments on time.
Specific Feedback: Mr. Martin said that my works look too similar to one another, and need to make sure that I need to make the next ones in a more varied way.
Week 4:
General feedback: Try not to make too similar designs
Specific feedback: Mr. Martin chose the 3rd composition. He said it is better if I move the ring to the furthest planet, and the texts get moved to the middle planet instead.
Reflection
Experience: Mr. Martin's class is more relaxed compared to others. However, I realized that we need to pay attention to the lecturing because Mr. Martin tends to explain in a very detailed way.
Observation: I realized that I still lack ideas comparing to my friends.
Findings: I found that looking at my friend's design could help me improve my design.
