INSTRUCTION
For the final assignment, I decided to do stop motion. The main reason is because I don't like to shoot myself. lol.
Another reason was because I can do cute stuff for the stop motion and it is better than doing visual effect.
After decided on what to make, I looked for ideas through pinterest and youtube. I have seen several stop motion videos just like the 3 videos that I reviewed back then. Even though I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be able to do stuff like that.
I started off by thinking of an interesting story. I was inspired by my own personal story and with my sister. I decided to indicate myself as a cat and my sister as a rabbit. Here is the full story:
Once upon a time, there was a cat that was always praying for a friend. She would always wait for a shooting star to grant her wish. One day the shooting star appeared, and she quickly wished for a dear friend. The next day, she found a little rabbit outside her door, freezing because of the cold weather at night. The cat brought the little rabbit inside to take care of her and got so happy that she finally found a friend. However, she didn’t realize that bringing a little creature would have its own drawbacks. Every time she gets home, the house will be in a mess, causing her to get stressed. She even heard her neighbors talking bad about their own little creatures. All of these made the cat realize that kids are just a nuisance, she never asked for a kid, she asked for a friend. The cat came home and found the kitchen was in a mess, she couldn’t handle but to yell at the little rabbit. The little rabbit got scared and went to her room. Ever since then, the cat always yelled at the little rabbit even if she didn’t do anything, the little rabbit thought that the cat hated her. One day, the little rabbit went missing, the cat suddenly panicked, she searched in her room, she found nothing but several surprising things. She found a cake that was written for her, a drawing of them together, and lastly a letter and a flower from the little rabbit, and in the letter it was written, “I’m sorry that I have been a nuisance”. The cat couldn’t hold her tears and she ran outside to look for the little rabbit. She found her crying behind the bush. The cat felt relieved and hugged her. She didn’t know that the little rabbit would appreciate and love her that much. Ever since then, the cat started to act nice towards her and tried to teach her slowly. Little did she know, the little rabbit was actually a very good friend, even a wonderful friend. They now live happily ever after.
However I realized that the story is way too long and I wouldn't be able to finish all of them. Here is the revised version and also the proposal I made for the final project:
and this is the story board that I made:
I showed my work to Mr. Martin and he said that the story is not very interesting. I told him the whole original story and he liked the part where the rabbit was being hyper. He gave me a suggestion to change it into the lazy cat and hyper rabbit.
I actually like that idea, seems pretty cool with me. So I remade the whole story and I think I was quite satisfied with the end result.
Before that, I came across a problem and it really stressed me out. I was shooting with my phone and I forgot that I should've used stop motion app because it was easier. I should have used size 1920 x 1080 as well but I forgot. I thought I could change it in premier pro, but I did not know that my premier pro was very stupid. I couldn't change the sequence setting because the tabs is too big and I couldn't click okay which is very very stupid. I tried to look for help through internet to find people with the same problem, NONE.
as you can see from my screenshot, I couldn't press okay because the tabs was block by my windows. I couldn't even put the tabs higher because it has reached the limit of my screen. I was so stressed because I was already out of deadline. I couldn't even export it don't know why.
After I got the video from here, I decided to do color correction, sound editing and add song in the back. I think it came out not bad :)
Here is the end result:
FEEDBACK
Mr. Martin told me to change the parts of the story and take the interesting part. He suggested me to change the story line into about hyperactive rabbit and lazy cat being friends.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Its done. finally. What a project. Especially after going through such pain of having to redo the paper cuts. I accidentally left my paper cuts in the other city and I already had to submit the next day. I did not sleep for 4 days trying to finish this module together with the other module as well. Moreover, I had problems with my premier pro, truly days of hell. I also learnt that color correction is very very helpful. My original video didn't look good at all because I used a bad phone camera. After I do the color correction, it became so much better. I also enjoyed adding the sounds, pretty cute. Overall, it is a nice experience but I wouldn't want to do it again.
