INSTRUCTION
Afterward, I scrolled through Pinterest and found an idea to create a scenery in a lotus pond instead. Here are my inspirations:
During the 4th week, I tried to finalize the outline and find the right color for the whole artwork. Honestly, I started feeling pessimistic during this period since I just thought everything looked weird and not in place. Here is my progression:
During the 5th week, there weren't many updates, I just tried to finalize the people in the boat. This is where I realized I fucked up because the deadline is next week. Here is my progression:

Design Exploration Honor Competition
INSTRUCTION
For the first task, we were all joining the Honor Talents Award Competition. For this competition, we could choose whether we wanted to create wallpaper, theme, watches, and open design. We also had to choose between 3 themes to go for which are cultural prosperity, renewal life, and genesis.
For this assignment, I decided to go for the cultural prosperity theme as I thought it would be the easiest choice to improve. Moreover, I had no idea how to apply the other 2 themes. At first, I was thinking of doing Valentine's Day. However, I thought it was a little bit too basic. Afterward, I found that there is a Chinese Valentine's Day which is also called the Qixi Festival.
When I looked at the inspiration, the scenery looked pretty much the same, on top of the bridge with a lunar moon in the background. I understand that it is the scenario of the story, however, I felt like I could've improved it. Here are the Qixi Festival illustrations:
I really like this pond idea but the main problem was how to connect this idea with the Chinese Valentine's Day (CVD) concept. I tried to sketch the idea and added the bridge on the corner left and made the moon the reflection in the water.
Miss Anis told me it would be a good idea to put the moon as a reflection and told me not to add too many elements near the boat path wave so it wouldn't be too crowded. Here is my first sketch:
For the third week, I tried to divine the outline and added color so I could imagine how it would look like. Here is my week 3 progression:
During the 6th week, I made a lot of progress because I had no choice. I was so confused about how to make the water look more realistic. I showed Miss Anis this and she told me I was on the right track and I just needed to finalize:
Okay, I think this looks okay, but it's not very good. Until I found this effect called Linear Burn, all of a sudden the artwork looks VERY COOL. I was very surprised.
Like OMG, the Linear Burn made it look so good HAHA.
Afterward, I just needed to finalize a bit more with the lotus flowers, bridge, and rocks. Here is the final wallpaper:
Personally, I really like how it turns out. I think it's pretty. But oh well, the problem doesn't end here, I still needed to do the animation haha.
For animation, personally, I didn't think that much and just decided to do water ripple animation. It's just water ripple for the whole 10 seconds. Here is what it looks like:
After I was done with everything, I was ready to submit. Here is how the artwork ended up looking after I put it in the mockup:
REFLECTION
I really enjoyed this module aside from the animation. I hate animation to the core of my heart, I have no idea why either. I really enjoyed the progress and the learning progression until I achieved my final artwork. I learned to experiment with effects from this module. Most of the time when I was creating an illustration, I would just stick with normal. I didn't know that other effects could have so much potential. I guess I also learned how to use After Effects again after not touching it for so long.
At first, I did not expect anything from this competition because I thought there were going to be lots of amazing and cool competitors. However, the day they announced the winner I saw so many gifts, and honestly, ngl, I had a little bit of hope. But after I saw that most of them were prepared to come forward to take the award, I knew immediately there was no chance for me. I wish I could've heard from the judges themselves what was bad about my artwork therefore I can improve for my future creations.
