Professional Development Week (PDW)

During Taylor's University's 6-hour Personal Development Week (PDW), I gained a wealth of knowledge essential for future career preparation. Each session was highly informative, offering a deep understanding of the subjects discussed. The webinars were meticulously organized, and the host delivered the content with both attentiveness and enthusiasm, making the learning experience engaging and thorough.

Financial Literacy for Fresh Graduates (Maybank):

During this session, I learned that saving involves setting aside leftover money while investing makes your money work harder for long-term growth. Inflation negatively impacts those who hoard cash, affecting nearly everyone. Beginners should avoid common pitfalls like assuming market timing is easy, expecting high returns without considering risks, and blindly following others without proper research to avoid falling victim to FOMO.

Keynote: Aspire to Inspire (POS):

The speaker emphasized the timeless principle that "practice makes perfect," underscoring the importance of continuous improvement and honing one's skills to achieve excellence. We also learned strategies for outperforming competitors in the job market, recognizing that securing a position at a dream company requires not only talent but also a distinct competitive edge. The session highlighted the necessity of differentiating ourselves from others, whether through unique skills, innovative thinking, or a strong personal brand, to stand out and capture the attention of potential employers. These insights were aimed at empowering us to navigate the challenges of a highly competitive job market with confidence and determination.

Maximize your LinkedIn Presence (Linkedin):

A well-maintained profile not only attracts recruiters and industry experts but also opens up new career opportunities. The session highlighted that LinkedIn is more than a job-seeking platform; it’s a tool for building trust, showcasing achievements, and establishing a strong personal brand. With a compelling profile header, detailed work experience, and a personalized "About" section, professionals can effectively position themselves in the industry. The seminar also stressed the value of networking, staying informed on trends, and fostering relationships that support career advancement, encouraging me to be more active on LinkedIn.

AI in Digital Media (Malaysia Advertisers Association):

The webinar emphasized the growing role of AI in reshaping marketing, particularly in driving social impact through purposeful advertising. It discussed AI's significant benefits, including improved personalization, limitless content generation, and automation of tasks like email marketing and social media management. AI also enhances marketers' adaptability and effectiveness by enabling faster experimentation and more efficient budget allocation across various channels. The session wrapped up by highlighting the increasing need for creative and critical thinking in navigating the rapidly evolving marketing landscape.

Reimagine Your Career: The Rise of Generative AI (Deloitte):

During this webinar, we explored how the Deloitte organization leads the field in Analytics & Cognitive services, with a global network of over 20,000 cloud experts and 10,000 certifications. They discussed their strategic partnerships, delivery of 35,000 analytics projects, and how they help clients gain a competitive edge through data-driven transformations. They also highlighted Deloitte's recognition as a leader in Data and Analytics, RPA, Intelligent Automation, and AI services. Lastly, we delved into the impact of Generative AI, its role in reducing the cost of creating knowledge-intensive content, and the involvement of major tech companies and start-ups in driving these innovations.
