Collaborative Design Practice

Here are the things you need to include in your task 1:

Introduction
  • Project name
  • Group Members
  • Areas of Expertise
Definition of the Challenge

Creating the Project Plan
  • What will we work to produce?
  • What constraints will we need to manage?
  • What measures and indicators will help us know our ideas are successful?
The Project Brief
Write a short ‘brief’ that clarifies the challenges/problem to be addressed. It should be clear and concise allowing one to understand its content as it is addressed. Include supporting ideas/thoughts that reflect an understanding of the challenges/problems and where/how design has the opportunity to provide a solution.

Challenge Analysis
  • What do we know?
  • What do we believe we already know about this challenge?
  • What we would like to learn more about?
The Target Audience
Who will we be designing for?
Consider the core audience and extended audience.

PROCESS

Week 1:

For the first week, we were briefed about the project that we need to do. The project is about creating art installations made out of waste inhalers and blister packs. This project was planned in collaboration with GSK company with the intention of reusing the waste drugs.

After knowing what we have to do, we were given the chance to choose our own group members. I am now in the same group as Tressa, Devina, Michelle, and Sea. Together we formed a group called "NUTQUACKER" which was inspired by Taylor's ducks. We also chose our group leader which is Tressa.

However, unfortunately, Michelle differed from the module and got replaced by Shao Cheng.

We made Google form to note our process, here is the link:

Inside the Google form, we also made the miro to dump all of our ideas.

The next thing we did was give out tasks to each member and arranged the deadlines so we will stay on track. I was tasked to create the interview and survey questions together with Sea and Devina. After making the questions, we also put ideas for task 2. Shaocheng was in charge of doing the research.

Week 2:
For this week, we need to conduct both interviews and surveys. For the survey, we got 110 respondents in the end. As for the survey, Sea interviewed 2, Devina interviewed 1, and I also interviewed 1. I interviewed Azka Farezi, a friend of mine who has been dealing with asthma since he was a kid. Here is the screenshot of our interview:

I also uploaded the video to youtube: https://youtu.be/wbFHGoLmDe8
The interview took about 8 to 9 minutes and everything went on just fine. After conducting the interview, we then summarized and analyzed the data. I first wrote the actual script of our interview first, then I proceed to the analysis.

As we were doing the interview and analysis, we also spread the survey at the same time. As for the survey summary, Tressa was the one who dealt with it. Since next week was the submission and presentation, we had no time to slack so we continued making the empathy map, user persona, and problem statement. We finished the presentation slide on Sunday and were ready to present.

Week 3:
We did the presentation and everything went on smoothly.

FEEDBACK

Week 1:

For the first week, we did not receive any specific feedback since it was the first meeting. However, Ms. Lilian mentioned compiling the process neatly in the blog. She also told us to prepare and plan the project for the following week.

Week 2:

For this week, Ms. Lilian took a look at our progress and she said that we were already on the right track. Next, we have to continue with the secondary data search and also conduct the survey and interview. After we are done with them, we also need to continue making the empathy map and user persona since next week is already the presentation.

Week3:
Ms. Lilian said that we shouldn't have our google docs inside the presentation.

NEXT COURSE OF ACTION

Week 1:
Start compiling the secondary data research and make questions for the survey an interview

Week 2 :
Conduct the interview and survey and analyze the results. Start making the empathy map and user personas.

Week 3:
Proceed with the next task

SUBMISSION

Here is the final presentation:

REFLECTION

At first, when I heard about this project I was worried since this is the first time we have to deal with art installation. I was wondering the whole time how we are supposed to finish it on time since the deadline is different from other modules. One thing on my mind was I didn't want to fail this module so I need to find teammates that are reliable. I got more devastated after knowing that all of my friends dropped this module. Honestly, understandable, I feel like this module is a lot of pressure. If only I wasn't interested in the other extension modules, I would've done the same thing. I also checked on our senior work and they didn't do any art installation. So I'm guessing our batch is the first? yet, why?

Anyways, aside from that, I'm glad that my teammates are nice, reliable, and fun. We joked in the chatroom and we finished the work on time. Things got a little tense before the submission but that was totally expected since we were in serious mode. Thankfully, we managed to finish the entire thing in week 3. We did the presentation in sequence and everything went on smoothly. If I were to fix my way of working in task 1, it would be my time management. I realized that I suck at time managing resulting in me doing the entire thing at the last minute.
